  • I can’t wait for true 5G

I’ll finally have a viable alternative to Comcast for internet.
And, by the way, what are you using for a cable cutting alternative? My slow ass is finally ready to end things with Comcast.
Their “this is our answer and fuck you” customer service is infuriating.

I have heard that Youtube TV is the way to go. This is my last year with DirectTV and then I will be checking it out further but essentially you can get all local Philly sports and just have to verify your zip code annually or so I am told.

I've used PSVue for a few years now and love it

I used Sling for 4 years. Never had an issue and was very happy with channel selection. They had NFLN and Red Zone, and I think if it's in your local market, you'll get the Phils/Sixers/Flyers.

I recently cancelled it because AT&T was offering TV and fiber internet at a price that was cheaper than what I was paying for Spectrum and Sling. Otherwise, I'd still have it.

Just one negative note. It'll be hard to host a Super Bowl party where you need a completely reliable stream, and I missed a scoring drive during an Eagles game last year because I needed to reboot. I'm happy to have a cable line for those reasons.

PSVue gives me NBCSports Philly and ESPN for sports viewing needs and gives mu wife Bravo. It's marginally cheaper than my old verizon package but i don't have to renegotiate every 6 months or a year or whatever, which is honestly the best reason to cord cut right now.

Still use verizon for internet service and it's fine. But there's impending doom for when the price goes up after the current "contract."

Also, I tried Hulu Live - it was fine but I found the interface to be awful. Vue's DVR feature is pretty solid unless you want to keep a recording for longer than a month. I've heard nothing but awful reviews for DirectTV. YoutubeTV is fine from what i've heard, but they were missing something I wanted (NBC Sports Philly?) and that was a dealbreaker when I looked into it.

Is it worth it to get the Apple tv

            hardware and a YouTube subscription?
Looks like the streaming is $50 a month for YouTube tv.
And yeah, other than no HBO the options are pretty nice.

I like Apple TV. I've got two of them. If you just want to dip your toe, the 4K Fire Stick is an inexpensive champ. I've got two of those as well, and they almost perform as well as the Apple TVs, but are about 1/4 the price.

I can't speak to Youtube. I'm a big believer in Sling (I think they give you three streams) and a fan of Hulu, which carries some of the major networks.

I ditched Directv two months ago

Switched to Hulu live. I'm happy with it.

I’m leaning towards the 4K fire stick and remote.

Hulu or YouTube tv. Both for streaming have great reviews.
Probably will ditch the landline along with the cable tv service.
Other than that, the only other decision will be what speed internet to get.
                  Thanks for the info.

Don’t buy anything that doesn’t allow you to hook up to a LAN line. Anything that relies solely on Wifi is ass.

Maybe if you have shit internet and WiFi that’s true

Fortunately, that’s not the case for us.
We’ve got screaming internet and a linksys router that has the latest security and reaches our pool out back and out to the street in front. We’ve never had an issue streaming on any device, direct cabled or not.

My router sat right next to my fire stick and had issues streaming live Eagles games on Sunday Ticket. I ended up buying a roku ultra and plugging it in directly to the router and haven’t had an issue since. Still kept the fire stick and jail broke it which is pretty awesome.

If those were the choices, I'd go Hulu. Mostly because the non-live content library is going to more than make up for on-demand shows. I also think you can be in on multiple streams at once. Not sure about Youtube. They also have a decent DVR included.

YouTube gives 6 different accounts for one price

                              And the dvr is unlimited.
